Ed Fringe 2023 -

This is my second Casey Jay Andrews show, having been put onto her work by the wonderful Aussie storyteller Wil Greenway, and her magnetic and charming storytelling has lodged a place firmly in my Fringe heart. From the moment I enter the warm embrace of a Casey Jay Andrews show I know that I’ll be looked after, that I’ll be moved, and that I’ll hear some of the loveliest combinations of words available at the fringe. This years offering is a story of meteor showers, of family homes, of grandparents, of the transience of it all, of dog-walkers and astrophysicists, of trees and small towns. It is a beautiful story, accompanied on guitar and various drum machine/synth-y things by Jack Brett (with music composed by Brett and George Jennings) the swirling soundscapes complement her words perfectly.

This year, Casey is upping not only the auditory aspect of her work, but the spectacle factor too, integrating her work as a designer into the story via the beautiful homely centre-piece that is peeled back at intervals to reveal the inner-workings of the show. This dolls-house, like the rest of Oh My Heart, Oh My Home is immaculately detailed, made with love and care, and helps bring this elegant story to life.

Casey is a master of her craft, weaving together stories like a virtuosic narrative seamstress, and it is a pleasure to watch her once more.

Oh My Heart, Oh My Home is on at Summerhall - Former Women’s Locker Room on Aug 15-20, 22-27 - tickets available here.
